Owned and operated by the Sierra Club, Harwood Lodge is open to members and guests on weekends year round. It's the site of several dance weekends each year. For those wanting to take a break from dancing, there are many hiking trails in the area. An easy and popular hike is to San Antonio Falls. At the end of Mt. Baldy road, a short distance north of the lodge, is a chair lift to the Mount Baldy Notch ski area. The lift also operates during the summer for sightseeing ($12 round trip; $6 children/seniors).The adventuresome can continue up the trail from the falls, or take the ski lift to the Notch and then hike to the peak along the Devils Backbone. High winds and spectacular views. |
